For those of you who knew my son Cory, you also knew that he talked about dying and going to a place he called ‘Summerland’, beyond the Rainbow Bridge where God lives in a huge crystal castle surrounded by incredible beauty and love. The artwork is his seven-year-old depiction of Summerland. It sounded like Heaven to me. He spoke of walking in a garden of flowers in colors not seen on Earth, of music he’d never heard before, and of beings of light. He was very excited one day when he reported that he had walked in God’s garden with God. Cory was diagnosed at age three. We rarely attended church when he was a baby, and when he got sick we could not take him around large groups of people with potential germs.
I just watched a movie on Amazon Prime entitled “Summerland” and it blew my mind. Apparently prior to Christianity, the pagans believed that souls went to a place called Summerland. In the movie, certain people could see it in the clouds. Front and center there is a huge castle. Tears trickled from my eyes when I saw it and heard the main character describe it. Well, since Cory believed in multiple lifetimes I had to question whether or not he had been a pagan in a previous lifetime. How did he know of this place? Still, it was a comfort to me.
Out of curiosity, if anyone reading this blog post has other descriptions of what happens in the afterlife please message me. I would love to gain more knowledge and understanding so I can share it with others in a future post.
BTW, I do recommend the movie. I love movies and tv shows from the UK. Also, this is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. Please donate to childhood cancer research if possible.
Be well,
Shirley
