Sometimes you just need a good cry. I hope you have taken the time to go see A Star is Born. It is my favorite movie of the year. It is very intense but so unbelievably well done. Bradley Cooper did an outstanding job directing, casting, learning how to play guitar, write music, lower his voice, sing, etc. Lady Gaga was heartbreakingly wonderful. Do not concern yourself if you saw the last version with Kris Kristofferson and Barbra Streisand, it is a different movie really. I loved it but be sure to bring a pocket full of tissue.
The soundtrack is getting a lot of play at my house. Several of the songs (mostly written at least partially by Gaga and a number by Cooper too) are very emotionally stimulating but the last song gets me every time I hear it. It makes me think of my brother Bobby and his wife, Lynette, my cousin John and his wife Jeanne, Wanda and Jimmy Billheimer, Barb and Roger Bottman, Laurel and Rodger Miller, my in-laws, and so many others.
I happened to watch an episode of The Resident the other day. It is obviously about a doctor doing his residency. Anyway, a child cancer patient that he grew fond of during his internship relapsed. The resident had to tell the mother her son was dying. It hit me in the gut and I had a flashback of when I was given the same horrible news. Then, the boy’s brain bleeds and he is gone the day after they discovered his relapse. OMG I bawled like a baby. Where are decent comedies when you need them? It was just a TV show, I know, but it still made my memories come crashing back. I think I needed a good cry. Every now and then, it does a body and soul good to release sadness. So, sad songs, movies and TV shows can be therapeutic and tears can be good for you.
Now, I need a good laugh. If you have any good TV shows or books with happy endings or any that put light into your life, and that you want to recommend, please send now. I will be happy to share..
Be well, laugh often and cry when you feel like it.
